Smiles by Farr Restores & Maintains Dental Bridge Procedures

Bridges are natural-looking dental prosthetic appliances that can replace a single tooth or section of missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth. Also known as “fixed partial dentures”, bridges are made of porcelain, gold alloys or combinations of materials.

Preserving The Life Time Of A Dental Bridge

Restoring the longevity of your dental bridge is important and proper oral care is crucial. Dental Bridges can fail due to cavities that appear around the crowns. Daily brushing and flossing can maintain the health of your bridge and protect your mouth from any hidden decay.

Regular maintenance can preserve your bridge with these easy daily routines:

  • Brushing Regularly
  • Flossing Daily
  • Regular Teeth Cleaning
  • Yearly Dental Exams

Process of Fitting a Bridge

A couple of appointments will need to be created for the next steps in preparing your dental bridge. First, we will create a mold that will be the foundation and structure of your bridge, this will be sent away to a lab to be created. We will set another appointment to prepare the teeth and create a temporary until the bridge is received from the lab.

A bridge’s main purpose is to restore the health of your mouth, the bridge is held between one or two different teeth were a gap will be present.

The dental bridge procedure involves the following:

  • Before treatment begins local anesthetic is applied to the area of restoration.
  • The temporary bridge will be removed and the area will be cleaned.
  • Cementing will be used to seal the bridge to the crown.
  • Lastly, a bite adjustment will be needed.
  • Instructions will be given on how to clean under the bridge for proper future care.
